The American Red Cross has recognized VFW Post 1503 as an Extrodinary Blood Program Partner who stood with the American Red Cross during the COVID-19 pandemic.  American Red Cross President and CEO Gail McGovern conveyed the certificate in a letter to Post 1503 Blood Drive Chairman Ben Guinan on November 12, 2020.

"As thousands of blood drives around the nation were cancelled due to the impact of COVID-19, please know that your drive protected the health and well-being of the most vulnerable among us – including accident victims, cancer patients, those suffering from chronic illnesses and many others" said McGovern.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Post 1503 has held two blood drive campaigns collecting a total of 71 usable units.
